Emmett MacMillen (they/them) is a trans nonbinary interdisciplinary artist, writer, and event producer interested in the intersections between performance, writing, and new media and received their degree in Interdisciplinary Performance at the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan campus in 2016. Emmett has been involved with a number of performance projects and installations over the years, practicing primarily on the unceded territory of the syilx people (colonially known as Kelowna, BC).

They are also a co-author of three publications, with their most recent being a zine with broke press publishing (Vernon, BC) in the fall of 2022, which was available as a 50 print copy run. They were a regular at the Inspired Word Café open mic events, for which they also volunteered for, worked for, and eventually became the Managing Director of in 2022, helping to launch Inspired Word Café’s first festival, Fireweed Eco Fest, as well as produce the annual Pony! Cabaret. They were most recently awarded second place in the Inspired Word Café Poetry Prize for their poem ‘rain shadow’.

In 2023, Emmett relocated to unceded Lekwungen territory (Victoria, BC) to work as the Producer for Intrepid Theatre and the Victoria Fringe Festival. They also produce the semi-regular TransFiXed Cabaret, a variety show of all trans-performers, and the Trans Pride Poetry Night at Caffe Fantastico. Alongside their day job of producing indie and emerging theatre, they continue reading at open mics, writing, and performing in town as drag thing Earle Gay.
